Ever since I was a child drawing stick figures, I’ve spent most of my time studying faces. In high school I was the art editor for the school newspaper, and drawing sports cartoons was my specialty. Sculpting fiber portraits and doll making replaced the cartoons after a time and many years were spent exhibiting in craft shows throughout the East Coast. What started out as little soft sculpture stocking faces on refrigerator magnets rapidly branched out into doll making after I began wondering what else could be done with the basic concept.
Dolls and fabrics have totally invaded my family room, bedrooms, storage rooms and even the spare bathroom! And I’m still looking for even more space! When people come to our house they have to fight for space with faces and assorted body parts in order to find a seat!
As my artwork expanded, so did my choice of materials! Nothing is sacred anymore …. for example, I recently realized the little pouch that vine tomatoes comes in makes a wonderful texture to interweave into my fabrics (well, after I ate the tomatoes, of course!!), and in my house there is no such thing as a piece of “scrap” fabric! I use it all with gleeful abandon and I encourage everyone to widen their own horizons and experiment with colors, textures and materials …. You’ll end up with some terrific results, I promise you!
My imagination has produced an array of different designs and styles, but every time I leave my studio and go out into the real world new inspirations loom …. Actually, some of my friends have told me that they are afraid that if they spend too much time with me they might end up immortalized in cotton and polyester!
I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach, study and travel throughout the

Our little four-legged girl is Morgan, a 6 year old Shih Tzu who is the love of our lives and the biggest pain in the “you-know-what” of our lives! She’s a really wonderful dog (shhhh, don’t tell her she is a dog!) and we love her to pieces!
